Since 1930, EIE Maskin have been a trade and agent company with transmission components and products for the pulp and paper industry. For many years, EIE Maskin have also worked actively on internal efforts to improve work environment in their mechanical workshop. As part of this effort, Svensk Konstruktionstjänst were commissioned to review EIE’s machinery in terms of safety. 40 machines, including saws, lathes, grinders, washers, forklifts, et cetera, were included in this undertaking.
Svensk Konstruktionstjänst’s consultants reviewed all of the requirements for each machine. Many of the machines had been there since the time before CE-marking became a legal requirement (1995). The review was carried out together with staff from EIE Maskin.
With a list of requirements according to MD (the Machinery Directive), along with work environment regulations, a checklist was introduced for application in the review of each machine, based on these aggregated requirements.
The result of the safety inspections and the analyses was one list of measures each for every machine, detailing recommended measures in order for EIE Maskin to achieve their goal of systematically improving the work environment.
