Svekon Receives Initial Order for 60 MSMB 200 Workboats from FMV

Svensk Konstruktionstjänst AB (Svekon) has received an initial order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for 60 MSMB 200 workboats. The order value amounts to approximately SEK 300 million. Deliveries are planned to begin in 2027 and continue over a period of approximately 36 months.

The order is placed within the framework agreement awarded to Svekon in 2024 regarding the delivery of smaller high-speed motorboats. The assignment included the development and manufacturing of a compact workboat solution. The agreement covers a framework of up to 100 boats, including spare parts, with an estimated total value of approximately SEK 500 million over 15 years.

The MSMB 200 has been developed by Svekon in collaboration with Nimbus Group, which is responsible for production. The vessel is just over 11 meters long, built in fully welded aluminium, and equipped with an inboard engine. It is designed to meet operational requirements within both the Swedish Navy and the Home Guard.

“FMV’s accelerated order of 60 boats underlines the value of a flexible Swedish defence industry built on strong partnerships. For Svekon, this confirms our role in the Swedish defence industry strategy, where we work closely with FMV and our partner Nimbus to deliver rapid capability and strengthen preparedness.”

– Martin Frisk, Deputy CEO, Svekon

The MSMB 200 is based on proven aluminium constructions and demonstrates how civilian platforms can quickly be adapted for governmental and defence purposes, enabling short lead times and high cost efficiency.
