The Swedish Armed Forces’ New MSMB 200 Workboat to Be Showcased During Almedalen Week

Stockholm, Sweden – 16 June 2026

Svekon has been given the opportunity to showcase the Swedish Armed Forces’ new MSMB 200 workboat during Almedalen Week in Visby. The vessel will be on display as part of Svekon’s activities throughout the week, giving visitors the opportunity to experience a current example of Swedish defence industry innovation and capability development.

The MSMB 200 is a small high-speed workboat developed by Svekon in collaboration with Nimbus Group on behalf of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). The vessel has been designed to meet operational requirements within both the Swedish Navy and the Home Guard and forms part of the Swedish Armed Forces’ ongoing efforts to strengthen maritime capabilities.

Displaying the vessel during Almedalen Week provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of Sweden’s defence industry, industrial capacity, and close cooperation between government authorities and industry.

“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to showcase the MSMB 200 during Almedalen Week. The vessel is a concrete example of how Swedish industry, working closely with FMV and the Swedish Armed Forces, can rapidly transform operational needs into effective capability.”

– Johan Lantz, VD, Svekon

The MSMB 200 is just over eleven metres long, built in fully welded aluminium, and designed for transport, logistics, and other maritime missions in coastal environments. The design is based on a proven civilian platform that has been further developed to meet military requirements, enabling cost-effective procurement and short delivery lead times.

During Almedalen Week, the vessel will serve as a natural gathering point for discussions on Swedish supply resilience, the defence industry, and the need for increased delivery capacity at a time when security issues are high on the political agenda.

“The MSMB 200 demonstrates how proven technology, Nordic manufacturing, and rapid development can be combined to deliver relevant operational capability. This is exactly the type of solution called for in Sweden’s Defence Industry Strategy.”

– Martin Frisk, Vice VD, Svekon
